The Institute for Operations Research & Management Sciences (INFORMS) is hosting an Analytics Conference in Orlando in April 2016. Ford's Chief Analytics Officer Paul Ballew and Uber's lead Director of Operations Research Samuel Elderesveld will both speak at the event, along with plenty of others who have helped the U.S. Army, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, BNY Mellon, NYPD and UPS. In addition to the speakers, there will be dozens of workshops, consultations and networking opportunities. In total, there will be more that 120 events for attendees to schedule.
Georgia Perakis, INFORMS member and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, led a team of Ph.D. students, in partnership with Oracle, to develop a model approach to determining optimal promotional retail pricing. Compared to current methods, the newly developed model was able to identify the potential for between 3-10% improvement in profits.
