INFORMS adds new Director of Education and Industry Outreach to Leadership Team

CATONSVILLE, MD, August 28, 2017 – INFORMS, the leading international association for operations research (O.R.) and analytics professionals, is pleased to announced that Tasha R. Inniss, Ph.D. has joined its leadership team as the inaugural Director of Education and Industry Outreach. Inniss has overall responsibility for INFORMS’ education, practice, industry outreach, and professional development activities and programs.

Prior to joining INFORMS, Inniss served as the Acting Deputy Division Director of the Division of Human Resource Development (HRD) in the Directorate of Education and Human Resources (EHR) at the National Science Foundation (NSF). Concurrent with that, she was a tenured faculty member in the Department of Mathematics at Spelman College in Atlanta, GA.

“I am thrilled to be joining the dynamic INFORMS staff and working collaboratively with them as well as with INFORMS elected leaders to develop comprehensive and integrated strategies, focusing on both O.R. and analytics education and practice, that help to support the goals and priorities of INFORMS,” said Inniss.

Originally from New Orleans, Inniss graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University of Louisiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, followed by a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park. At the University of Maryland, she was a member of the National Center of Excellence for Aviation Operations Research (NEXTOR) and was advised by Michael O. Ball, Ph.D.

Inniss brings to INFORMS her passion for applied mathematics, particularly in the areas of O.R., applied statistics, analytics and data science. In addition, she is dedicated to helping students see the impact of mathematics in the real world and encouraging undergraduate students to pursue degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
