CATONSVILLE, MD, November 20, 2019 – After nine years as executive director of INFORMS -- the leading international association for operations research and analytics professionals (www.informs.org) -- Melissa Moore has announced her intention to retire on September 1, 2020.
Under Moore’s leadership, INFORMS has established a solid, sustainable foundation for the future. Deficit finances have been reversed, net assets have doubled, and there are year-over-year increases in operating revenues, conference attendance, and the number and reach of the peer-reviewed journals. Beyond this, Moore has also led the establishment of numerous new programs and initiatives that have engaged more members and stakeholders and will only grow in the benefits they provide.
“Melissa has been a great partner in devising and executing strategy at INFORMS and is an important member of our leadership team. I have greatly admired her “can-do” attitude and her capacity to lead. I know the INFORMS community joins me in thanking her for her years of service” said Ramayya Krishnan, 2019 president of INFORMS.
“I have had the privilege of working with Melissa for several years while serving on the board and observed firsthand the impact of her leadership,” said Pinar Keskinocak, INFORMS president-elect. “We, the broader INFORMS community, are grateful to Melissa for bringing INFORMS to a strong position on many fronts, poised to continue growth and impact moving forward.”
Moore noted, “I am honored and proud to have had the opportunity to work with such a great organization, profession and especially, members and staff. Operations research and analytics will only grow in importance to industry and society. It will transform our lives and continue to save lives, save money, and solve problems. I am excited to watch the growth and success of INFORMS in the coming years.”
INFORMS is now organizing the search process, which will be led by a search committee currently being formed. The committee will be Co-Chaired by Pinar Keskinocak (2020 president) and Steve Graves (2021 president), with Ramayya Krishnan (2019 president) serving on the committee.
