CATONSVILLE, MD, May 6, 2019 – INFORMS, the leading international association for professionals in operations research and analytics, announced today that it has joined the Societies Consortium on Sexual Harassment in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine). The mission of the Societies Consortium is to advance professional and ethical conduct, climate and culture across STEMM fields.

CATONSVILLE, MD, May 6, 2019 – Researchers from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University published new research in the INFORMS journal Marketing Science which sheds new light on the impact Airbnb and similar “sharing economy” companies are having on the hospitality industry.  The findings suggest that in some cases, the presence of Airbnb can help attract more demand in some markets while challenging the traditional hotel pricing strategies.

Austin, TX, April 16, 2019 – Student teams around the world have shown they are more than ready for the challenges they will face in their professional careers, with a group of students from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Republic of Korea successfully using operations research (O.R.) and analytics to help GM analyze how autonomous vehicles may change the finished vehicle delivery and operating processes to win the 2019 O.R. & Analytics Student Team Competition.

INFORMS, the leading international association for operations research and analytics professionals, announced it has awarded Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District and Tetra Tech its 2019 Franz Edelman Award for Achievement in Advanced Analytics, Operations Research, and Management Science for its use of operations research (O.R.) to maximize all aspects of its wastewater collection and treatment facilities to better protect the environment and realize hundreds of millions in savings.
